Johnson Brothers Old Britain Castles Blue Platter Specifications
Depicting some of Britain's oldest castles with intricate detail, this 70-year-old Johnson Brothers dinnerware pattern appropriately bears the name Old British Castles. Although traditional in appearance, the high quality earthenware construction and glossy finish give the collection the strength to function comfortably in today's fast paced households. Each chip-resistant piece ably withstands the rigors associated with modern kitchen conveniences such as microwaves, freezers, and dishwashers.
With a pale cream background, this oval serving platter displays its images in a beautifully contrasting navy blue. Centered on the dish, the artwork depicts an elegant castle in a rural 1794 Canterbury setting. Clusters of flowers adorn the generous plate rim while its edge is slightly scalloped. Measuring 13-3/4 by 1 by 11-1/4 inches, the platter can be passed for hors d'oeuvres or rest on a tabletop to serve ham, asparagus, or any part of the evening meal. This piece fits comfortably in both casual and formal environments and can be set with matching dinnerware and additional serveware for a highly coordinated table. -- Amy Arnold
